Sarah Kate Morgan is a community development consultant working with for-profit and non-profit organizations in Appalachia to determine the needs of their community and how they can best meet them by building social capital through community development programming. While growing up in rural East Tennessee, Sarah's love for Appalachia developed at young age when she was introduced to Appalachian music and folklore through the mountain dulcimer, old-time music, and square dancing.
An artist with a big heart, Sarah's work has focused on connecting communities to the joy that Appalachian art, music, and dance can bring. Sarah has organized a series of free house concerts held at the Union County Art Co-Op in her hometown of Maynardville, TN, created an Appalachian music and dance afterschool program at the Haldeman Community Center in Haldeman, KY, and revived a monthly square dance series in Morehead, KY. Sarah currently lives and works in Morehead, KY where she is studying Traditional Music, Appalachian Studies, and Arts Entrepreneurship at Morehead State University.
